Real Estate Law

This department is for the transaction itself: selling, buying, registering or letting a property in Syria while you are outside it. If instead there is a disagreement about who owns the property at all, that belongs in property ownership disputes.

What this department handles

  • Sale and purchase contracts: drafting them, and reviewing what is put in front of you before you sign.
  • Registration and transfer of title, and following the paperwork through.
  • Checking a property's status and any entries against it before you buy.
  • Lease agreements, and the questions of renewal and vacating that come with them.
  • Mortgages and their discharge, and property powers of attorney drafted wide enough to actually cover the transaction.

The power of attorney is where most delays happen

What holds up a property transaction is usually not a court but a power of attorney drafted too narrowly: it does not cover the act required, or it was not authenticated in the form the relevant office accepts. So we start there — what yours needs to contain in your specific case, where it is drawn up, and what authentication applies where you live.

What helps at the first consultation

The kind of transaction you need, the property details as you know them, any document you hold about it, and your country of residence, because that determines how the power of attorney is authenticated.

How your file is handled while you are abroad

You start by requesting a consultation through the form or on WhatsApp. The legal team reviews your situation and assigns the right specialist. The first consultation is free, and in it we set out what can be done and which documents you will need. Where the matter has to be followed before Syrian courts or authorities, that is done under a power of attorney drawn up and authenticated at the Syrian consulate or embassy in your country of residence, or before a local notary with the required attestations; we tell you the wording you need and the steps that apply where you live. From there everything runs by message, voice call or video call, with no need for you to travel.
